The biennial UIL Realignment and Reclassification for the 2020-2022 calendar year will be released in February. The process for that release will begin publicly on Friday, October 25 with Snapshot Day. That day is the day that schools across the state will be giving their enrollment numbers to the UIL. No enrollment figures will be submitted until that day.
By definition, the schools are split into six different conferences (or classifications by general terms. Conference 6A will consist of a minimum of 220 schools but no more than 250 for football (not including schools choosing to opt up into 6A). Conference 1A will consist of schools with an enrollment of 104.9 or lower.
Schools will not be changed in conference because of gaining or losing enrollment after
the enrollment submissions are verified. Any school may request to be elevated one conference, or one (1) division for football, provided notification is submitted to the League office simultaneously with enrollment figures.
There will be 32 districts in 6A and 16 districts for Class 5A to 1A. Realignment Day 2020 is slated for release on Monday, February 3 at 9am CT/8am MT.
