Region I Notes:
The major observation of the region is that El Paso will be guaranteed two district slots. The two districts could be split in two different ways. The first being the traditional natural district split with all of the Ysleta ISD schools in District 2 or a split district aligning the teams north and south in the city. Either way, El Paso ISD will have some schools split apart. The West Texas District that comprises of the two Wichita Falls school includes two High Plains a Panhandle and another in Abilene. Quite the drive. Fort Worth ISD gets paired with Aledo, Grapevine, Timberview and Arlington Seguin to form a 10-team district.

Region II Notes:
The major observation for 5A2’s Region II sector is the addition of an East Texas district including Texas High, who is moving down from 5A Division I. The logjam of Region II features two nine districts and a pair of ten team districts. Dallas ISD and Frisco ISD dominate the region with a combined 13 schools within the three ten team district frames. In order to make this alignment work, Crandall, Everman and the two Forney schools join a district that includes Waco University.

Region III Notes:
Nothing of note is out of the ordinary with Region III. Port Neches-Groves and Nederland will have to honor of traveling to the eastern Houston suburbs with their playoff playing partners being the Montgomery schools and the Bryan College Station area. Houston ISD gets an entire district to themselves with the southern Galveston and Fort Bend County schools getting a district to complete the region.

Region IV Notes:
One of the key observations to the realignment is Liberty Hill moving up into the Class 5A ranks. The Panthers are joined by Marble Falls, Pflugerville Connally, Georgetown East View, Leander Glenn and Leander Rouse. The big thing that pops out is the inclusion of two nine-team districts. One is going to Austin and the other is for the Rio Grande Valley. With no Coastal Bend schools in the mix, San Antonio will get the District 15 slot.
