Rusty Purser has been named as the new head football coach at Midland Greenwood after spending the past seven seasons with the Taylor Ducks. Purser returns to Midland for the first time since 2005 when he was an assistant coach for the Midland Lee Rebels.

After leaving Midland Lee, Purser began his head coaching career with the Floydada Whirlwinds for three seasons. In 2009, Purser moved north to the Panhandle to lead Borger for the next three seasons.

Following a successful stint in Borger, Purser moved on to Taylor, where he led the Ducks to the playoffs all seven years. In his 13 seasons as a head football coach, Purser has accumulated a 64-79 record with three playoff wins in ten appearances. He replaces Jared Sanderson, who went 16-8 in two seasons with the Rangers including a 10-3 record in the 2018 season.
