Jerry Bomar resigns at Beeville Jones to return to Groesbeck

Jerry Bomar will coach his 38th season of Texas HS Football in a very familiar place and that place is Groesbeck. It is the school where he won his only state championship during the 1991 season. On the flip side, Bomar is leaving behind an eight year period where he was the coach of the Beeville Jones Trojans and Orange Grove Bulldogs.

Serving as the Trojans head coach the last three seasons, Bomar earned a winning season in each of those three seasons but making the playoffs in two of them. With Orange Grove, he teams went an impressive 49-11 in five seasons, making the playoffs in all five years along with a pair of trips to the second round.

Prior his stops in the Coastal Bend region, Bomar spent time at Callisburg and Grand Prairie, where his son Rhett would develop into a Division I caliber quarterback. Ultimately, Rhett would sign with the Oklahoma Sooners, leading to Jerry agreeing to coach at Callisburg.

In total, including his stops at Trinity Christian-Addison, Killeen, Atlanta and Groesbeck, Bomar has a 255-149-3 record and a 17-14 playoff mark over 38 years.
