Darren Allman hired as Nacogdoches head football coach

The Nacogdoches Dragons hired Darren Allman, who was most recently the Athletic Director for Southlake Carroll. He replaces the retiring Bobby Reyes, who steps down after seven seasons as the coach of the Dragons.

Allman has been a very familiar name across the circles of Texas HS Football as he has coached at Odessa Permian, Austin Westlake and Colleyville Heritage. In 11 seasons of coaching from 2005 until 2014, Allman has collected a record of 88-38 with a playoff appearance in ten of those seasons. His most successful seasons came with the Austin Westlake Chaparrals in 2009 and 2012, when he got the Chaps into the state championship game and then again within a game another appearance.

Allman has been out of coaching since the 2014 season after a 5-6 campaign at Colleyville Heritage when he was hired away as Carroll ISD’s Athletic Director. He then resigned the position in the summer of 2018.

Booby Reyes has coached at Nacogdoches since the 2012 season and had prior stops at Smithville, Richardson Pearce and McKinney. He finishes his coaching career with a record of 98-121 with eight appearances in the post-season in 21 seasons as a head coach.
